OUR Village Co-op
About the Project
SquareOne opened the 70-unit Peace Village Co-op at the end of 2023, which was built on land acquired from Peace Presbyterian Church. Inspired by that project, members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church reached out to SquareOne with an interest in doing something similar on their property. After the congregation held its final service in February 2025, they generously offered to sell the entire 2.4 acre property to SquareOne at a well below-market price, in the interest of continuing the site's long legacy as a community asset.
We've since developed plans for transforming the property into OUR Village Co-op. With 44 new homes, the development will include a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans with the goal of creating a range of housing options that are affordable to households earning between 40% and 80% of the area median income in Lane County.
Following SquareOne’s shared-equity ownership model, residents will collectively own the housing as members of the co-op, and SquareOne will retain ownership of the underlying land, preserving long-term affordability and providing ongoing technical assistance to the co-op.
Arranged in a “village” style layout on the east side of the property, parking is kept to the perimeter and the new residential buildings and existing church building frame a central outdoor commons with mature trees where future residents can gather and play.
The existing fellowship hall will be renovated as a common house with shared amenities for residents—including a gathering area, community kitchen, laundry, and other shared resources—while other parts of the existing building will continue to support existing programs that serve the surrounding community.
The existing community garden in the northwest corner of the site, stewarded by the Amicus Memorial Garden Collaborative, will remain a vibrant space for food production and education. This collaborative includes NAACP, Beyond Toxics, Nurturely, and other organizations that will help inform the planning and outreach for the future housing co-op.
