Hiring a Project Coordinator for Tiny House Villages

This is a unique opportunity to contribute towards a growing movement to establish tiny house communities as a viable form of cost-effective, affordable housing. Position: Project Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director & Project Director
Status: Full-time, flexible hours Pay: $38,000 - 40,000 salary
SquareOne Villages is a non-profit organization based in Eugene, OR with a mission to create self-managed communities of low-cost tiny houses for those in need of housing.
Job Summary
The tiny house movement is gaining traction as a cost-effective response to the dire need for more affordable housing. Over the past few years, SquareOne Villages (SOV) has emerged as a state and national leader in this effort. In response to growing interest from other Oregon communities, SOV has received funding to develop a “Tiny Village Toolbox and Training Practicum” that will be implemented and refined on an identified test community, in Veneta, Oregon. In addition to preparing another Oregon community to develop tiny houses, this project will build SOV’s capacity to disseminate similar projects throughout Oregon and beyond.
The Project Coordinator will work with the Project Director to research and develop the “Tiny Village Toolbox and Training Practicum.” The position will also assist with the implementation of Emerald Village, and the predevelopment work for a new village in Veneta, Oregon. SOV has received a grant to fund this position for one year. The continuation of this position after one year will be dependent on future project demand and funding.
Essential Functions:
Work with Project Director to coordinate project planning and implementation, and execute tasks necessary for moving projects forward
Effectively communicate relevant project information to internal and external contacts, including board and staff, project partners, stakeholders, and the public
Respond to project related inquiries and provide outreach to other groups looking to replicate or adapt SOV projects
Attend project related meetings and record meeting minutes
Provide technical support as needed. Examples of technical tasks include: serving as a project liaison, performing research, analyzing information, and creating written and graphic content
Provide administrative support as needed. Examples of administrative tasks include filing project documents, maintaining records, scheduling meetings, and compiling project summaries and reports
Communicate ideas for improving SOV project materials and strategies
Assist in supervising Project Intern
Other Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and maintenance of website and social media presence for SOV
Develop content for SOV newsletter and assist in fund raising efforts as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
BA in Urban Planning, Architecture, or commensurate experience relevant to this position
Commitment to creative housing solutions in response to issues of homelessness and/or affordable housing, and familiarity with the “tiny house movement”
Effective communication skills including verbal, written, and graphic presentation
Ability to present complex information in a simple and concise manner
Proven ability to work effectively both independently, under minimal supervision, and in a team based environment with a diverse range of people
Self-motivated in identifying and carrying out tasks
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
Familiarity with housing development, land use, and building codes; or a strong interest to research and learn about these topics
Experience using word processing programs and spreadsheets
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign) preferred
