Organization Overview:
The mission of SquareOne Village (SOV) is to create self-managed communities of cost-effective tiny homes for people in need of housing. The organization currently manages two villages in Eugene (Opportunity Village and Emerald Village) and is in the process of developing a third village in Cottage Grove (Cottage Village). We also provide consulting services and resources to other entities looking to implement similar housing models. Our approach is committed to engaging prospective residents and the surrounding community in the process; thus SOV not only builds affordable housing, we build equity through diverse community collaborations. Position Summary:
The Development Director (DD) will be responsible for working with board and staff to build and execute a development plan, and implementing the information technology systems to support it. The DD is also responsible for organizing special events and capital campaigns. Since this is a new position within a small but growing non-profit organization, the ideal candidate will bring experience and leadership in building a successful development process.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with board and staff to develop and execute an annual fundraising plan for SOV, including a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors, as well as gifts from foundations and corporations.
Manage the implementation of donor relationship management software.
Cultivate and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors, business partners, foundations, and community groups.
Develop and implement capital campaigns for SOV projects.
Produce fundraising materials and train volunteers to assist with fundraising campaigns.
Oversee the organization of special events.
Prepare and track grant proposals and reports in collaboration with board and staff.
Assist with the development of organizational branding and management of public relations.
Essential Qualifications:
Commitment to the mission of SOV, with an emphasis on social justice for people living in poverty, and a thoughtful approach to strategies for achieving it.
BA required, MA desired.
3+ years experience in development or marketing.
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, communication, and collaboration skills.
Knowledge and experience in non-profit fundraising and building external relationships.
Enthusiasm for being a “self-starter” who creates a new position within a small organization.
Proficiency with donor relationship management, word processing, and data entry software.
Ability to mobilize board members and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.
